Modular Buildings

A few examples of buildings I created from a set of modular meshes.

Most of the times I made the proxy meshes and assembled the buildings while a prop artist polished the modules.

Rural Buildings

Above right image:

All these buildings are made with the same set of simple meshes. They sit in a test level here.

The modules always have an inside and not just the outside. I find it more realistic and easier to work with this way.

Right image:

We used a xref system to place them in the production levels. We could setup variations and change the materials in the levels.

They would receive some further dressing and polish in the level.

Barn

Above image:

This is the outside of the barn seen already in other screenshots of the game. I rebuilt most parts keeping the existing textures.

Here it sits in a test level.

Grain elevator

One of the earlier buildings I made. (I only made the structural building meshes seen here)

The player was able to explore the inside.

1960's House

Above right image:

This building was first started by another designer. But I rebuilt almost every part of it. The goal was to have it look different from every angle.

It is actually a modular building which could be set up in many ways. Some variations can be spotted below.
