Private (Blog): Olaf Und Elke Are Visiting

Elke and Olaf came over from Germany. They stayed in Sydney first before they headed for a week to Brisbane. I took the week off and we spend the Christmas week together. We went for sightseeing to the Sunshine Coast, Blackall Ranges, Sommerset and Wivenhoe Dam and also tried some places for dinner. Finally we had a couple of BBQ's with some of my friends from Brizzie.

Elke und Olaf waren über die Weihnachtszeit zu Besuch in Brisbane. Ich hatte die Woche frei und wir sind ein paarmal mit dem Auto los. Wir waren an der Sunshine Coast in den Blackall Ranges und bei den Dämmen.

I am not quite sure but I think that's a golden orb spider. It is big for us europeans but they grow a lot bigger then this fellow here, which is maybe 6-8cm leg span. They don't do harm. They just wait for pray. They never come into the house.

Daneben sind diese Golden Orb Spinnen. Ziehmlich gross fur Europaische Verhaltnisse. Aber keine Angst, die Spinnen kommen nie ins Haus. Sie sitzen die ganze Zeit nur in ihrem Nest und warten auf Beute.

Elke am Moffat Beach. Wir waren vorher am Dickies Beach, den man im Hintergrund sieht. Das Wasser ist immer ne willkommene Erfrischung.

Wir machen einen Ausflug zu den Stauseen. Zwei Gala's sitzen in den Buschen.

Olaf and Elke. It was hot this day. 30+ degrees and very humid near Sommerset Dam.

Es war ein heisser Tag mit uber 30 Grad und ausserdem schwuel.

Olaf spotted a wild Koala in a tree. His first ever spotted wild Koala. You don't see them very often

Olaf hat einen wilden Koala entdeckt. Man sieht die nur sehr selten in freier Natur.

Olaf with the Sommerset Dam in the background. The maximum water level is about 95m. It is full now but it was almost empty 2 years ago.

Olaf vor dem Sommerset Damm. Maximum Wasserlevel ist 95m aber bis vor ca. 2 Jahren war er fast leer wegen der Duerre. Jetzt ist er wieder fast voll.

Der Koala kratzt sich am Bauch. Normalerweise sieht man sie immer nur schlafen.

It filled up to a 100% over the last year. Anything too much for Sommerset Dam flows into Wivenhoe Dam.

Blackall Mountain Ranges

The Glasshouse Mountains can be seen behind Olaf and Elke. We took the rainforest walk before and listened to some strange birds. One type almost sounded like a crying baby.

Vorher waren wir in einem National Park wo ein paar Voegel Gerausche wie schreiende Babies gemacht haben.
